Meet Dustyn!

Hey, I’m Dustyn. I’m a licensed Master Electrician, and I’ve been in the electrical industry for 13 years, with the last 5 years spent teaching—some full-time, some part-time—while staying active in the field.

Most of my career has been in industrial and commercial environments—factories, plants, and all the places where something is always running, buzzing, or breaking down at the worst possible time. And honestly, that’s what I love about it. Troubleshooting has always been my favorite part of the trade—figuring out why something isn’t working, finding the root cause, and bringing a system back to life. It’s like solving a puzzle every single day.

I started out like a lot of electricians do: an apprentice trying to wrap my head around the codebook and keep up with the crew. Over time, I had the chance to learn from some excellent mentors and work on projects that pushed me to grow both technically and professionally.

As I gained experience, I realized how much I enjoy teaching—breaking concepts down, explaining the “why,” and helping other electricians build confidence. That’s what led me into instructing, and it’s become one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. Seeing someone go from unsure to “I’ve got this” never gets old.

When I teach, I try to keep things practical, clear, and approachable. I remember what it felt like to be new to the trade and what it felt like to study for that final state licensing exam, and I aim to teach in a way that respects your time, your real-world experience, and the stage of your career you’re in—whether you’re just starting out as an apprentice or preparing for your next license.

Outside of teaching, I’m usually tinkering with tools, working on small manufacturing projects, or finding new ways to blend electrical work with the creative side of making things. My goal is to make the apprenticeship and licensing process a little easier and a lot less stressful. I look forward to supporting you as you work towards your next career milestone. Thanks for stopping by.
